Summary

The fourth novel in the international publishing phenomenon the Ice Planet Barbarians series, now in a special print edition with bonus materials and an exclusive epilogue!

Harlow receives the shock of her life when she wakes up to see Rukh, a stranger who has clearly been on his own his whole life, but she soon learns that there is much more to this gruff, barbaric alien than the savage he appears to be。

The ice planet has given me a second lease on life, so I'm thrilled to be here。 Sure, there are no cheeseburgers, but I'm healthy and ready to be a productive member of the small tribe。 What I didn't anticipate? That there'd be a savage stranger waiting nearby, watching me。 And when he takes me captive, the unthinkable happens。。。I resonate to him。

Resonance means mating, and children。。。but I don't know if this guy's ever been around anyone before。 Rukh is utterly wild。 He's completely uncivilized, can't speak more than a few words and doesn't know what clothes are。 A human--a human woman--is mystifying to him。 He's truly a barbarian in all ways, and like Tarzan in the stories, he's kidnapped me and claimed me for his own。

Being with him means I'm going to have to teach him to speak, how to kiss, and how to be human。 Or even alien。 It should be a terrifying prospect。。。so why is it that I crave his touch and hunger for more?

Harlow and Rukh are adorable together! They have no language between them, but an undeniable connection and have to work through that barrier。 He has trust issues that stem from his childhood that makes their decision to return to her camp a difficult one。 She's very supportive of him and he works hard to accept her life there because it's what his family needs。 It's a fun, easier read that I just adored! I really enjoyed Barbarian Mine, which is the 4th book in the Ice Planet Barbarian series and features Harlow (who was unaccounted for at the close of the previous book)。 You don't need to read the prior books before jumping into this one, but it will give you more insight into the world and the dynamics if you do。Things to look forward to- Tropes like: forced proximity, sexual lessons/instruction, virgin hero, fated mates- A great spin on the Tarzan story。 I actually loved how almost feral Rukh I really enjoyed Barbarian Mine, which is the 4th book in the Ice Planet Barbarian series and features Harlow (who was unaccounted for at the close of the previous book)。 You don't need to read the prior books before jumping into this one, but it will give you more insight into the world and the dynamics if you do。Things to look forward to- Tropes like: forced proximity, sexual lessons/instruction, virgin hero, fated mates- A great spin on the Tarzan story。 I actually loved how almost feral Rukh was。 He has had zero socialization and contact with the tribe/outside world, and I found that innocence really endearing, but also very sad。 My heart broke for him and how lonely he was for all those years。 I thought the tribe connection was really well done and didn't see that twist coming。- I appreciated that this story focused on Rukh and Harlow building their relationship and sustaining it。 Their struggles were understandable and I liked that their connection wasn't solely because of them resonating。 I really felt like they fell in love。- The steam。 Gotta love that spur and how eager these aliens are to please their mates ;) Rukh's inexperience only cranked the heat level even more。- Getting to see previous couples like Georgie and Vektal and Liz and Raahosh and updates on their lives (and kits!)- The special edition includes: a bonus short story called Fathers (which takes place after the events of Barbarian Mine) and the novella Ice Planet Honeymoon。 The novella takes place chronologically around the first third of Barbarian Mine and is a closer look at what was happening with Rukh and Harlow as they settled into life together。CW: death of parent (past), cancer (past), pregnancy and complications, grief, kidnapping, hunting/killing of animals, parental abandonment (past)*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book* 。。。more

Ehhhhh it’s slow… things just kind of dragged, there was nothing too exciting。 I’d call it “filler” for lack of better terms, but enjoyed it nonetheless!

I really wish these weren't so repetitive:( I may start the ice home series instead and come back to this one later。 I use these as fluff in between reading horror and thrillers, so they do get the job done and I enjoy them。 This FMC definitely isn't my favorite so far。 I think I'm only continuing the series to see if I can find a couple that I really love LOLAnyway! Same ol story。。。big, sexy, blue alien with a bit of an attitude resonates with a human。 Smut and a lot of repetitive inner monolog I really wish these weren't so repetitive:( I may start the ice home series instead and come back to this one later。 I use these as fluff in between reading horror and thrillers, so they do get the job done and I enjoy them。 This FMC definitely isn't my favorite so far。 I think I'm only continuing the series to see if I can find a couple that I really love LOLAnyway! This one had several places where I thought it may go one way, and then it totally didn’t。 I’ve obviously gotten the pattern by now as I’m four books in, but I *still* keep waiting for some crazy heartbreak or tragedy or horrible ending。 I’m invested。 There are legitimately like, what…22 (??) of these books?!? Are any of them anything other than “girl meets alien。 The resonate。 They do it。 A lot。 And live happily ever after”??!? At this point we don’t have 22 human females。 And the “bad aliens” This one had several places where I thought it may go one way, and then it totally didn’t。 I’ve obviously gotten the pattern by now as I’m four books in, but I *still* keep waiting for some crazy heartbreak or tragedy or horrible ending。 I’m invested。 There are legitimately like, what…22 (??) of these books?!? Gostei bastante desse! O primeiro ainda é o melhor, na minha opinião, mas esse fica em segundo lugar。

Almost Stockholm syndrome but more that she knows what being a mate is and just gives up。 This has a lot more of the story with the character pregnant, so that was different。

2。75/5⭐️It’s almost a 3⭐️ for me but like I still didn’t really like it (I fell asleep reading and I wasn’t even tired) but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be。 I think I just need to keep the bar EXTREMELY low and I won’t be disappointed

There’s actually even more plot in this one and it gets a bit sad in places! The love interest might be a bit too caveman for me

excellent world buildingGreat read! It’s not often that I actually feel as if I’m really there seeing and living the experience but I did with this story。 Great characters loved the alpha stayed an alpha and though fell in love didn’t turn soft。 Excellent book all the way around !

Harlow was abducted by horrible green alien men who kidnapped a bunch of Earth women to sell/trade, who knows what, to other planets。 They are truly awful, but thankfully, they crash on an icy planet they’ve dubbed “Not-Hoth”, like in Star Wars, because of its similarity to the fictional planet。 Here they discover an alien race called the sa-khui dying out because of the lack of females。 See where this is going? Fortunately, somehow the human females on the crashed ship are able to “resonate” and mate with the male sa-khui and there have already been a few mated pairs in the last books。 Harlow hasn’t mated yet, but she’s happy to be on Not-Hoth all the same because on Earth she had terminal brain cancer that has been eradicated by the khui placed in her to make living on the planet possible。 However, while out on a exhibition she is kidnapped by another sa-khui male, a sort of Tarzan Barbarian because he’s grown up away from the main tribe and has limited speaking or social skills。 Of course, they “resonate” to each other meaning they’re mates。I read the first two books a few years ago and loved the stories, but the Special Edition prompted me to dive back in and read Harlow and Rukh’s story。 I really enjoyed getting back into this world! Rukh is so uncivilized, but sweet and entirely devoted to Harlow! He had his own sad story。 I was captivated as they learned to communicate and Harlow educated him on more civilized living, and in ways of romance。 Very spicy romance! They grow close, but life out alone comes with dangers they have to face and they may not be able to overcome all of them on their own。 As with the previous books, Barbarian Mine is some hot stuff, and was a quick, fun read, but there is bonus material in the Special Edition。 The extra story “Fathers”, Harlow and Rukh’s Honeymoon that was previously a separate additional short story and a guide with characters and explanation of the backstory。 I loved all the extra material, both the epilogue and short story touched my heart! The guide is really helpful。 Still, I’d start from the beginning with this series。 A copy was kindly provided by Berkley Books in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Okay so I am starting to dislike Vektal。As a chief he thinks about the tribe as a breeding experiment and his people plus Georgie come first。 So big screw you buddy! Free will! Emotions! Equality! NO means NO!Next Harlow seemed amazing in the other books I loved her but then Stockholm syndrome and it felt not very romantic more adapting to a life you were forced into。I will say I did love Rukh back story and his familiar relationship to his brother。 Perfect。This cover is amazing yet again。Will p Okay so I am starting to dislike Vektal。As a chief he thinks about the tribe as a breeding experiment and his people plus Georgie come first。 So big screw you buddy! At the end of Barbarian Lover, we were left with a little cliffhanger: Harlow was bonked over the head and dragged away, while the all-knowing computer said there was one extra sa-khui on the planet。 Hmmmm, could these two things be related? So yeah, as expected, Harlow was abducted by a heretofore unknown sa-khui dude, Rukh。 He has been on his own for a long, long time, and while he knows how to survive he's a little Tarzen-esque in his inability to speak and interact with other beings in a socially-acceptable manner。 Also (and this is important in an Ice Planet Barbarians book) Rukh is probably the most virgin of all virgin heroes because he never got any sex ed。 Harlow's feeling guilty for "abandoning" her tribemates (SHE DIDN'T ABANDON THEM, SHE WAS ABDUCTED) so she decides she's just going to go with the flow and hang out with this super-barbarian alien dude。 (Please note: just because you say you don't have Stockholm Syndrome doesn't mean you don't have it, Har-loh。) There's some other stuff that happens (including a cure for brain cancer, hot springs baths, and daddy issues) but that's all plot stuff。 Look, this is IPB so it's wild, sexy, fun, totally implausible, and we finished it in about 60 minutes。 Totally worth it。This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the new Berkley edition of the novel。 。。。more

- my thoughts and feelings are pretty consistent for this series- so far all the books have been quick, entertaining reads- I like that each book focuses on a different character from the original crew- guilty pleasure series for sure- not much else to say besides check this out if you’re into trashy romance novels and space 👍
